Best of Leh - Ladakh

Duration: 06 Nights / 07 Days

Destination: Leh – Alchi – Khardung La – Alchi – Nubra – Pangong – Thiksay - Leh

 

DAY 01: ARRIVE LEH AIRPORT

Arrival at Leh Kushok Bakula airport our representative will meet & greet you and transfer to the Hotel. This flight is one of the most sensational flights in the world. On a clear day from one side of the aircraft can be seen in the distance the peaks of K2, Nanga Parbat, Gasherbrum and on the other side of the aircraft, so close that you feel you could reach out and touch it, is the Nun Kun massif. You would take a little time to settle in and acclimatize since you have gone from a relatively low elevation in New Delhi to over (Altitude 11,000 feet). Day at leisure for acclimatization later in the afternoon we will be doing short walk to the market.  Overnight stay in a hotel.

 

DAY 02: SHANTI STUPA - LEH PALACE-STOK PALACE

 Morning after the breakfast visit STOK PALACE & MUSEUM: The palace of the banished royal family, Stok has a museum which displays fabulous period costumes and jewelry of the royalty along with exquisite Thankas representing the life style of Shakya Muni. Interesting historical objects like coins, arm or, weapons, precious jades and porcelain too can be seen here.

 

In the afternoon visit Shanti Stupa, built by Japanese master in 1995, from here we can  have the panoramic views of Leh and surrounding areas of Indus valley,  Lehche Spakar or the Leh Palace is in nine storey  built in 17th century by Ladakhi famous King Senge Namgyal. Now it is taken care by the Archaeological Survey of India. Overnight in Leh

 

DAY 03: LEH-HALL OF FAME - MEGNATIC HILL - SANGAM- ALCHI (4-5 HRS)

Morning drive Ule Ethnic Resort via Sangam the confluence point of Indus and Zanskar river, one can enjoy the river rafting in Zanskar river. Later visit Gurdwara Pathar Sahib, built in 1517, is a beautiful Gurudwara constructed in the memory of Guru Nanak to commemorate his visit to the Ladakh region. At Magnetic Hill it has been noticed that when a vehicle is parked on a neutral gear the vehicle slides up-hill due to the magnetic force. On the way back to leh visit Hall of Fame is a museum maintained by the Indian Army. One can see the memorabilia, Biographies of eminent defense personalities, images and weapons used during the Kargil War.)  overnight  in Ule Ethnic Resort

 

DAY 04: ULE - OVER KHARDUNG LA (5602 M) - NUBRA VALLEY (130 KMS/05 HRS)

The road journey from Leh to Nubra Valley passes over Khardung La (the highest motorable road in the world) at 5602 M, around 39 km from Leh.  From the pass, one can see all the way south over the Indus valley to seemingly endless peaks and ridges of the Zanskar range, and north to the giants of the Saser massif. It is situated in the north of Ladakh between the Karakoram and Ladakh ranges of the Himalayas. The road after crosses Khalsar Bridge at Shyok River & enters Nubra.

 

On arrival visit Diskit is famous for 515 years old Buddhist Monastery, lying magnificently situated on a hilltop, facing the entire Valley. After your visit to the monastery and shortly after leaving Diskit you will comes across sand dunes on the right of the road. You will find the (Double Hump Bactrian camels) on these sand dunes. Overnight hotel/camp

 

DAY 05: NUBRA –PANGONG LAKE (4300MT) – VIA SHYOK RIVER  (130 KM/04-05 HRS)

In early morning after the breakfast dirve to Pangong Lake which is the largest brackish lake in Asia, with a larger part of it extending into Tibet. The lake is 130 km long and 5 km at its widest point with half of it running to the other side of the Indo-China border. Despite of being a salt-water lake, it freezes completely during winter. There is no marine life here, save for a few migrating birds now and then like gulls and brahminy ducks.

 

Being at the border, the furthest point one is allowed to go to, is Spangmik, about 7 km along its western bank, but it is enough to take back the most beautiful memories of Ladakh. The very barren-ness and vastness of the area contributes to its striking beauty. Spangmik offers spectacular views of the mountains of the Changchenmo range to the north, and their reflections in the ever-changing blues and greens of the lake's brackish waters. Above Spangmik, one can see the glaciers and snowcapped peaks of the Pangong range, later driver to Leh via Changla pass. Overnight in Leh

 

DAY 06: PANGONG- THIKSAY-RANCHOO SCHOOL -LEH   (140 KM/06-07 HRS)

After the breakfast visit THIKSEY GOMPA: 19 Kms from Leh, spectacularly sited, Thiksey is one of the largest and architecturally most impressive Gompas. There are several temples in this Gompas, containing images, stupas and wall paintings of Buddha, which are exquisite. SHEY PALACE AND GOMPA: Situated on a hillock 15 Kms upstream from Leh, it was once the residence of the royal family. According to tradition, it was the seat of power of the pre-Tibetan kinds. A 7.5 mts high copper statue of Buddha, plated with gold and the largest of its kind, is installed here. Then Ranchoo school and Sindhu Ghat the place for the Sindhu Darshan festival at the bank of Indus river.

 

DAY 07: LEH AIRPORT DEPARTURE

Morning after breakfast, transfer to airport board your flight towards Destination Covered, to enjoy yet again, a beautiful flight over the great Himalayas
