Day 01: ARRIVE BAGDOGRA – PHUENTSHOLING (155 Km / 04 hrs)
Welcome on arrival at Bagdogra Airport / New Jalpaiguri Railway Station and transfer to Phuentsholing. Phuentsholing “The Gateway of Bhutan” check - in to your hotel. Process for route permit. After that visit Karbandi Monastery and Zangto Pelri Lhakhang. Overnight stay at Phuentsholing. Overnight at hotel.
Day 02: PHUENTSHOLING – THIMPHU (165 Km / 5 hrs)
After breakfast drive to Thimphu; Lying at an elevation of 2320m above sea level the capital of Bhutan is a blend of the traditional and the modern. It is the only capital in the world without streetlights relying instead on the elegant gestures of the traffic policemen. Arrive and check-in at the hotel. Later visit visit Tashichodzong, Dzongs are traditionally built without nails or written plans. The dzong houses the monk body in summer and is the seat of government, the king's offices are in this dzong. Overnight at hotel.
Day 03: THIMPHU
After breakfast proceed for a sightseeing tour of Thimphu: Simtokha Dzong the monastery built in 1627 by Zhabdrung Namgyal.It houses the institute for language & amp; culture studies. The carvings behind the prayer wheel in the courtyard are a major attraction of this temple. Memorial Chorten, Textile Museum is worth a visit to get to know the living national art of weaving. Exhibition introduce the major weaving techniques, styles of local dress and textile made by women and men, Chang Gangkha one of the oldest monastery in the valley, National Library has collection of holy scripts and BBS Tower. Traditional Paper Factory, Tango Monastery is a Buddhist college, residence of Desi Tenzin Rabgye a young boy who is the reincarnation of 16 th century monk who built Tango. Folk Heritage Museum Institute for Zorig Chusum (Handi crafts School) known as the painting school, National Institute of Traditional Medicine, Takin mini zoo where you can see the national animal of Bhutan Takin. Overnight stay at hotel.
Day 04: THIMPHU – PUNAKAHA EXCURSION – PARO (55 Km / 1 ½ hrs)
After early breakfast proceed for excursion tour to Punakha; Punakha was the old capital of Bhutan and the magnificent dzong is situated on an island in the middle of the river. It is also the winter residence of the Central monastic body. Visit the Punakha dzong and Short hike to Chimi Lhakhang where many go to pray for progeny. Also Visit Chimi Lakhang and ruins of Wangduephodrang Dzong. Sangchhen Dorji Lhuendrup nunnery. Continue your drive to Talo Monastery: The site was founded by Chogtrul Jigme Singye (1742-89), the 4th reincarnation of Lama Thripa (Galsey Tenzin Rabgye), which literally means the holder of the throne, a title given to Gyalsay Tenzin Rabgye (1638-96) as the Gyaltsap (regent) appointed by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyel. Visit Khamsum Yuley Chorten; Khamsum Yuley Namgay Chorten was built in 1990s and took period of nearly 10 years. It was built by Queen Mother and dedicated to the King and for the well being of Bhutanese. After return walk along the riverside, following the ancient trail that goes through farmlands, homes, Sonagasa village and arrive near Punakha Dzong. In the afternoon return to Thimphu and depart to Paro. Arrive Paro; lies at an altitude of 2280m above sea level. Before the construction of roads most of Bhutan's trade came through Paro either from Tibet via Tremo la or from the south via Haa. Arrive and check-in at the hotel. Evening is free for leisure. Stay overnight at the hotel.
Day 05: PARO
After breakfast enjoy an excursion tour to Chele La pass; at an elevation 13000 ft asl is considered to be one of the highest motorable passes in Bhutan. About an hour's drive from Paro as it passes through lush valleys, pine and rhododendron forest. Return and enjoy local sightseeing of Paro visiting visit the Paro Dzong: The correct name of the Dzong is Rinchen Pung Dzong which means fortress on a heap of jewels. The Dzong was built in 1646 by Shabdung Ngawang Namgyel. Later visit the Choeten Lhakhang, a monastery situated in the centre of the town and is built in the traditional Bhutanese style. Dumtse Lhakhang is a temple believed to have flown from Tibet and is hence held by chains to the ground. Stay overnight at the hotel.
Day 06: PARO – PHUENTSHOLING (165 Km / 05 hrs)
After breakfast travel to Phuentsholing. On arrival enjoy Lunch and remaining time is free for leisure. Enjoy Dinner with overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 07: PHUENTSHOLING – GANGTOK (225 Km / 7 ½ hrs)
After early breakfast today we proceed to Gangtok; Gangtok is a beautiful hill town and the capital of north-eastern state of Sikkim. This is one place which many tourists like to combine along with a visit to Darjeeling. In fact the combined trip of Darjeeling-Gangtok is a common recipe when people think about visiting this part of the country. Arrive and check-in at the hotel. Evening is free to visit market. Enjoy Dinner with overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 08: GANGTOK – DARJEELING (100 Km / 5 hrs)
Early morning at 03:30 in the morning proceed for the trip to Tsomgo Lake (12400ft), which is only 32kms from Gangtok City, the lake is almost about 1Km long, oval in shape and 15 mtrs deep. The lake is considered sacred by the local people, further 12 Kms. Also visit Baba Mandir at an altitude over 13,000 ft. It was built in memory of a soldier in the 23 rd Punjab Regiment who drowned in a stream near the spot and Nathula Pass India and China border. Return to Gangtok, Later travel to Darjeeling; once the summer capital of India, Darjeeling is a land of infinite variety and charm. It will cater you a mix-experience of lively nature & charming Himalayan people. It is the place of Dorje, the mystic thunderbolt of the Lama-Religion. On arrival check-in at the hotel, enjoy Dinner with overnight at hotel.
Day 09: DARJEELING SIGHTSEEING – NJP / BAGDOGRA DEPARTURE
Early morning start for Tiger Hill to watch the spectacular sunrise and it’s amazing effects on the Mt. Kanchendzonga (World’s 3rd highest peak), Visit Ghoom Monastery and Batashia Loop War Memorial while returning to the Hotel. Breakfast at the Hotel followed by half day local Best points sightseeing covering Padmaja N. Zoological Garden (Closed on Thursday), Himalayan Mountaineering Institute (Closed on Thursday), Tibetan Refugee Self-help Center (Closed on Sunday). Later proceed to Siliguri; the gateway to the North East India, Siliguri is located in West Bengal in India. Siliguri is beautifully tucked in between the north Eastern Himalayas and the Dooar region of West Bengal. Arrive and visit famous Hong Kong Market of Siliguri and drive to Bagdogra airport / Railway Station to board the train / flight for onward journey.
