Destination: Gwalior - Orchha - Khajuraho - Panna - Bandhavgarh - Jabalpur

Day 01: Arrive Gwalior

Arrive Gwalior airport/railway station and transfer to hotel. Later visit Jai Vilas Palace the palace is a combination of the architectural style of the Mughals and the Medici. It is a combination of architectural styles, the first storey is Tuscan, the second Italian-Doric and the third Corinthian. The area of the Palace is 124,771 square feet and it is known for its large Durbar Hall. Visit Gwalior Fort features several palaces, most prominently the Man Mandir Palace, an example of Hindu-Mughal architecture adorned with colorful blue and yellow tiles, intricate lattice screens, and mosaics. Other structures include the Karn Palace, Shah Jahan Palace, Jehangir Palace, and the Gurjari Mahal, built by Man Singh Tomar for his queen. Sas-Bahu Temple is an 11th-century twin temple built by King Mahipala for his wife and daughter-in-law and dedicated to Vishnu. Also known as the Sahasrabahu Temple, the name means "mother-in-law and daughter-in-law," but it derives from Sahastrabahu ("one with a thousand arms"), a form of Vishnu. Gurdwara Data Bandi Chhor commemorates the release of Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji from imprisonment in 1617-1619. The Gurdwara marks the spot where the sixth Sikh Guru stayed during his detention and where he secured the release of 52 other kings also imprisoned there by Mughal Emperor Jahangir.

Later return to hotel. Stay overnight in Gwalior.

 

Day 02: Gwalior – Orchha (120km/3hrs)

After breakfast drive to Orchha. On arrival check in at hotel and proceed to visit Ram Raja temple is unique as it worships Lord Rama as a king, not a deity, and is the only temple in India with this tradition. Built in the 16th century, it was originally the queen's palace, Rani Mahal, and the queen brought Lord Rama's idol here from Ayodhya. Orchha Fort a historic palace complex built by Bundela Rajput rulers on the banks of the Betwa River in Madhya Pradesh, India, starting in the early 16th century. It's known for its magnificent palaces, including Raj Mahal and the Sheesh Mahal (Palace of Mirrors), and a unique blend of Rajput and Mughal architectural styles. Jahangir Mahal is a 17th-century palace built by Bundela ruler Bir Singh Deo to honor Emperor Jahangir's visit, blending Hindu and Islamic architectural styles with red and yellow sandstone construction, featuring bastions, domes, and blue tiles. Later also visit Cheturbhuj temple is a 16th-century structure dedicated to Lord Vishnu, known for its impressive multi-storied architecture blending temple, fort, and palace features, and is located on an island in the Betwa River.

Later return to hotel. Stay overnight in Orchha.

 

Day 03: Orchha – Khajuraho (175km/3hrs)

After breakfast proceed to Khajuraho. On arrival check in at hotel and take rest. Later visit The Western Group of Temples in Khajuraho is a cluster of well-preserved Hindu temples, including the Kandariya Mahadeva, Lakshmana Temple, and Varaha Temple, known for their exquisite nagara-style architecture and intricate sculptures depicting divine, mortal, and erotic themes. Built by the Chandela Dynasty between the 10th and 11th centuries, these temples are part of a larger UNESCO World Heritage site that showcases the artistic and architectural zenith of ancient India.

Later visit The Eastern Group of temples features both Hindu and Jain deities, built by the Chandela dynasty between 950-1050 AD, with key temples including the Parsvanatha, Adinatha, and Shantinath (Jain) and the Vamana and Javari (Hindu). Also visit Dulhadev Temple, part of the Khajuraho Group of Monuments, is dedicated to Lord Shiva and built in the 12th century during the Chandela dynasty and Chaturbhuj Temple Dedicated to Lord Vishnu was built by the rulers of Chandela dynasty in 1100 AD. The name is so derived from the word 'chaturbhuj', which means 'one with four arms'. This is so with the presiding deity Lord Vishnu who has four arms. Stands lonely and serene on a high platform, this is the only important temple in Khajuraho that faces west.

Later return to hotel. Stay overnight in Khajuraho.   

 

Day 04: Khajuraho - Panna National Park – Khajuraho

Today walk up early in the morning and go for Jeep Safari at Panna National Park renowned as the 22nd tiger reserve of India. By covering an area of 542.67 sq km, Panna Reserve lies besides the areas of the Ken River at a distance of 30 km from Khajuraho. Panna National Park is known for its diverse wildlife, including the Bengal Tiger, Indian Leopard, Sloth Bear, and various Deer species like Chital, Chinkara, and Nilgai. It also boasts a healthy population of other animals such as wolves, wild dogs, and various bird species including Vultures, Storks, Parakeets, and flycatchers. The park is also home to reptiles like Pythons and Gharial crocodiles.

In the afternoon take rest at hotel. In the evening enjoy Sound-Light show is a daily event that takes place at the Western Group of Temples. It features a 50-minute show with multi-colored laser lights, superior acoustics, and narration by Amitabh Bachchan. The show highlights the history, facts, and myths of the Khajuraho temples, as well as the story of King Chandravarman. The show is typically held after dusk, and the timings change depending on the sunset.

Later return to hotel. Stay overnight in Khajuraho.   

 

Day 05: Khajuraho - Bandhavgarh (235km/5:30hrs)

After breakfast drive to Bandhavgarh is a popular tourist destination known for its National Park, which is famous for its high density of Bengal tigers. The park offers wildlife safaris, allowing visitors to spot tigers and other wildlife like sloth bears, Bengal foxes, and Asiatic jackals. Besides the park, tourists can explore ancient caves, the historic Bandhavgarh Fort, and the Baghel Museum.

On arrival check in at hotel. Stay overnight in Bandhavgarh.

 

Day 06: Bandhavgarh National Park Safari

Today morning walk up early and proceed for morning Jeep Safari at Bandhavgarh National Park known for its high density of Royal Bengal Tigers, leopards, and other wildlife. Established in 1968 and expanded to a Tiger Reserve in 1993, the park features diverse habitats and a rich history, including ancient caves and the legendary Bandhavgarh Fort.

It is home to a rich diversity of wildlife, prominently featuring the Royal Bengal Tiger and leopards, but also hosts mammals like sloth bears, sambar, chital (spotted deer), nilgai, wild boars, and striped hyenas. The park is a crucial habitat for these species and provides an ideal environment for many others, including a wide array of birds, reptiles, and insects.

By early afternoon return to hotel. Enjoy and take rest. Later again proceed for Afternoon Jeep Safari.

In the evening return to hotel. Stay overnight in Bandhavgarh.

 

Day 07: Bandhavgarh - Jabalpur Departure (210km/4hrs)

After breakfast, drive to Jabalpur. On arrival departure to airport/railway station for your further destination.
